Concert Photography

I've never asked for a pit pass. I think the best pics come from simply buying a ticket and capturing moments from the crowd. I think you feel it more. Sweaty and shoulder-to-shoulder. Meeting new friends and music lovers. Concert photography is one of my favorite kinds of photography. I like trying to capture something that marks a time and helps me to remember all the shows I love and the music that's fueled my life. I also like that it isn't easy, especially without access. It's tougher than people think to get that one cool shot that catches the eye and reveals something about the artist or the show. The light at most concerts is always low, the lighting usually consists of cheaper flourescents that cause banding in your photos and so it takes patience to get it right. I've been taking concert photos for years now and it still feels fresh. I'm still trying to get it right. I learn something new every time. I try new things at every show. I hope you enjoy these ...
